Accreditation
The purpose of accreditation is to document and insure that a quality education is being offered. The International School of Sosúa is accredited by SACS-CASI, a division of AdvancED (formed by the amalgamation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the North Central Assoication) and recognized by the local Dominican Ministry of Education (Secretaría de Estado de Educación y Cultura, DR).

AdvancED, USA
ISS has been accredited by SACS-CASI since August 2000. Accreditation with this US based institution requires that the school comply with seven standards that promote quality education and permits the school to award US based High School Diplomas that are recognized by K-12 schools and universities throughout the 50 states. AdvancED is the unified organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI), and National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE).

Secretaría de Estado de Educación y Cultura, DR
In 1998, the Dominican Ministry of Education officially recognized ISS as an established monolingual school thereby enabling students who successfully completed  graduation requirements (i.e. four years of Social Studies/Civics in Spanish plus a passing grade on “Pruebas Nacionales” which is a national standardized test in Spanish, social studies and mathematics in
Grades 8 and 12) to earn the Dominican “Bachillerato”.
