As we wrap up the 3rd quarter, we’re also coming to an end of our unit on multiplying and dividing fractions. We will have a review day in class Thursday, and the test will be Friday. For those wondering how to prepare, check out Khan Academy’s review section that goes along specifically with the Engage NY math program we use. Coming up next quarter: geometry!
Bravo 5th graders! They worked so hard to become experts on the human body, and it was so much fun watching them share their knowledge with the community! A huge thank you to all the parents who took the time to come and support them.
DREAM Project Visit
We had so much fun with the DREAM Project kids on Wednesday! The students planned and led a tour of the campus, and then we did relay races led by Ms. Gaby. It was so interesting to learn how much we have in common - it turns out our friends from DREAM also love YouTube videos, and they studied the human body in science too. Our next activity will be in April. We will return to the DREAM Project in Cabarete to join our DREAM partners in reading to the little Montessori kids at the center. Stay tuned for details!
Thank you to all those who have signed up for the Parent Teacher Conference already! A reminder that Monday, March 20th there will no be school for the Elementary as teachers will be conferencing all day. Please sign up for your 20 minute conference here. Don’t forget to write your time down and try to be on time, as someone else is probably scheduled right after you. I look forward to discussing your child’s progress with you!
All Day Read
The 5th graders have been working hard all year to accumulate “Dojo points” for positive behavior. For their reward, they chose to have an “All Day Read” today. Many came in pajamas and brought stuffed animals and pillows, and we enjoyed a day fun of calm but educational reading activities. In math, students reviewed fraction skills while reading an interactive math story. Several students also volunteered to give a book talk and tell us about their favorite book. It was a fun day and a well-deserved reward for their effort! Remember, if you want to see your child’s progress on Dojo, send me an email and I’ll tell you how to sign up as a parent!
