This year in maths we will be following the Everyday Mathematics program of study. Please use the link below to access information about the program. I will be sending homework based on the learning in class, you can access support notes on the Everyday Maths website.
In English we will be using the Readers/Writers workshop components to develop the children's literacy skills and knowledge. To support reading, the children will use Reading A-Z which is a programme that supports development in all areas of English. You can access Raz Kids at home which is part of Reading A-Z, meaning that the children's learning can continue to be supported at home.
Please click the link below to access Raz Kids. The children will recieve their log in and password details during the first week of school.
What are we learning in the first weeks?
In Maths the first few weeks will focus on routines, beginning to look at number patterns and relationships, securing number bonds to 10 and beyond, and developing mental and written strategies for addition and subtraction to 12 and beyond. Please use the links and games below to support your child at home.
Once the children have a secure knowledge of the above skills, they will be given further opportunities to use and apply this knowledge across curriculum subjects and in different contexts. You can also aid in this by incorporating the maths in class into your home routines too!
