This week we have been revising 10 more and less using a 100 square. The children have started to notice patterns and many are now able to find 10 more or less than any number up to 90, in their heads! Looking at the patterns of the numbers when finding 10 more or less led us nicely into beginning to understand place value. We talked about Mayor Duncan's city and how only a certain amount could live in each of the place value houses. The children did some drama based around this and began using base 10 to represent parts of a number - they did amazingly!
We have continued to focus on golden sentences but this week have been adding connectives to extend. The children wrote about their weekends and have also done some response to reading. In phonics we have been trying to use our knowledge of the 'ai' and 'ay' diagraphs to help us spell words containing these phonemes correctly.
What else have we enjoyed this week?
We did a group quiz all about insects and were super proud of ourselves for knowing so much!
