Building our community with shapes in math

9/17/2015

In mathematics Kindergarten have been learning the names and attributes of squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and hexagons. Students used shapes to build a house for our big community map project. They  had to count and tally the number of different shapes they used. Today they made their little community member!
Kindergarten have also been learning the names and attributes (faces and vertices) of 3D shapes. They love this catchy song- although it doesnt include a rectangular prism.
At home, ask your child what 3D shapes they see in the house, on the way to school or in the illustrations of a storybook. Please help with the pronunciation of sphere- it's a tricky one!
