Social Studies has been a lot of fun! We have had visitors from doctors, chefs, pharmacists and nutritionists and there are many more to visit! Thanks to all those parents who are enriching our class' education!
In class we also read a book called Me On a Map. In the story we looked at the maps of a girl's room, her house, her town, her state, and her country. We used Google Maps and zoomed into our school, students are learning that our island can be found in North America.
In math we have been learning about 2D flat shapes (circle, hexagon, square, rectangle and triangle. We have been counting their sides and their vertices (the proper term for 'corner' or 'point'). Students have been sorting shapes, reading about shapes, making shape pictures out of pattern blocks, designing shape houses and making tasty shapes with gummy/raisins and toothpicks!
