WELCOME TO PRE-K 2!
I would like to start by welcoming you to the 2017-18 school year at the International School of Sosúa. I am very enthusiastic to begin a new school year. I am Ms. Jaelis Jimenez. I joined ISS October 21, 2014 as the Kindergarten Teaching Assistant. I graduated from the English Immersion Program sponsored by Utah University. I will have my Bachelor’s Degree from the Universidad Dominicana Organización & Método in 2017 certifying me to teach English and French.
I am excited to be teaching your child this year and I look forward to meeting them. The first days of school are very important. I am more than excited to be the Pre-k 2 teacher this year, the class is fabulous and I can't wait to start working with you all towards this year's goals. I want to ensure that your kid progress socially, emotionally and academically.
Important Pre-K 2 Information:
Every month I will send home a newsletter telling you of our themes and letting you know what we will be covering. This first month is going to be an exciting one. We will focus on the students getting to know each other and making new friends. Ms Sandra and I will be helping the children settle into their new surroundings and routines.
Pre-K2 Routine (Schedule)
This coming year will be an exciting and productive year for your child. When the children arrive in the morning, we introduce them to free play materials, after which we begin the morning circle. The curriculum that we will be following includes lots of discovery and learning activities incorporating free play and exploration, art, drama, singing, language arts, math skills, P.E. and social skills.
If your child will be absent please call the office to let them know. Please remember that it is very important to bring your child to school on time at 7.55 am. Mornings are prime learning times and we want to create good work habits for your child.
Students should be picked up by 3pm on school days. Your little ones are so happy to see you at the end of their busy day!
Students in Pre-K 2 should wear a grey P.E. shirt on P.E. days (days to be confirmed), and a white polo shirt and navy pants or shorts on non P.E days. Running shoes should be worn for comfort and safety.
Please keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack – just in case!
I feel that communication between home and school is important. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached by phone at the school or by email: Jaelis.firstname.lastname@example.org. Continue to visit our classroom website and blog for Pre-K 2 information and news. I also want to invite you to Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 7th.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation during this time of transition. I look forward to working with all of you.
Ms. Jaelis Jimenez.
